Philips Zoom!
About the Work
When Philips set out to expand its Zoom! portfolio—the number one patient-requested whitening brand—they needed a manufacturing partner who could take a new product from process development to commercial production without disrupting a demanding launch timeline. The result: a fully validated, optimized manufacturing operation for the Philips Zoom! whitening pen, built and sustained by Build by Boyd.
Build by Boyd partnered with Philips to optimize and validate the manufacturing process, meet new regulatory requirements under MoCRA, and take full ownership of supply chain management for ongoing commercial production.

Process Development & Validation
Bringing the Philips Zoom! whitening pen to market required optimizing a new manufacturing process, installing and qualifying new equipment, and completing full process validation. Alongside the technical work, Build by Boyd supported the regulatory documentation and procedures needed to meet the requirements of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA).
Working closely with the Philips team, Build by Boyd completed process optimization, validation, and regulatory modernization on schedule—giving Philips the confidence to launch on time.

Manufacturing
With validated processes in place, Build by Boyd launched commercial manufacturing for the Philips Zoom! whitening pen. An initial inventory build supported product launch volumes, and the operation transitioned into regular production campaigns as market adoption grew.
With a stable operation in place, the focus shifted to continuous improvement. Direct labor reductions and throughput improvements of 20% have been achieved—freeing the Philips team to stay focused on what they do best: developing innovative new products for the Zoom! portfolio.

Supply Chain Management
The Philips Zoom! whitening pen is manufactured with a proprietary formulation of chemicals and liquid media that demanded careful coordination from the start. Build by Boyd worked closely with the Philips team to transfer material sourcing and supply chain management responsibilities alongside the manufacturing operation.
Today, Build by Boyd owns and manages the full supply chain—gathering demand forecasts, maintaining an adequate raw materials pipeline, and qualifying alternate chemical suppliers and distributors to meet Philips's business continuity requirements.
