Scale-Up
We expand capacity without compromising quality. As demand grows, production scales through added capacity, automation, and supply chain depth, all within the validated state your device was launched under.

Phase Overview
Scale-Up is where capacity grows to meet demand. Additional lines, tooling, and automation are introduced, supply agreements are expanded to support higher volumes, and every change is assessed for its effect on the validated process. Where a change alters what was qualified, it is revalidated before it reaches product. The output is a production operation capable of supplying materially higher volumes at equal or better quality, with unit costs that improve as volume rises rather than holding flat.
What Happens in This Phase
Each phase draws on a different combination of our disciplines and sub-disciplines. These are the ones that grow capacity while protecting the validated state.
Capacity Expansion
Additional lines, tooling, and equipment added and qualified to lift throughput against forecast demand.
Automation
Manual operations automated where it improves consistency, throughput, or cost, and validated before release.
Change Control & Revalidation
Every process change assessed for validation impact, with revalidation executed where the qualified state is affected.
Supply Chain Scaling
Supply agreements expanded and second sources qualified so material availability keeps pace with volume.
Cost Reduction
Unit cost driven down through yield improvement, material optimization, and volume leverage as production grows.
Capability & Yield Management
Process capability and yield monitored at higher volumes to confirm performance holds as throughput increases.
Workforce Scaling
Additional operators trained and certified, with training records maintained across shifts and lines.
Quality Systems Scaling
Inspection, documentation, and release capacity scaled so quality throughput matches production throughput.

What You Walk Away With
Production capable of supplying a growing market: qualified added capacity and automation, revalidation documentation for every change that required it, expanded and second-sourced supply agreements, demonstrated unit cost reduction, capability and yield data at higher volumes, a trained and certified workforce across shifts, and quality throughput matched to production throughput.
Why This Phase Matters
Scaling is where a validated process is most easily broken. New equipment, new operators, and new suppliers each introduce variation the original qualification never saw, and the pressure to ship makes it tempting to treat those as minor changes. Assessing every one against the validated state is what allows volume to grow without quality following it downward, and it is the difference between capacity that holds and capacity that has to be requalified after a field issue.

Optimization
With capacity established at commercial volumes, your program moves into Optimization, where a mature process is continuously refined to improve cost, quality, and reliability over the life of the device.
