Lee, Massachusetts - Episode Three of "Project Frontline," a multi-part docuseries produced by Boyd Studios and Digital Eyes Film, explores the resilience of innovation ecosystems in Massachusetts and across the Life Sciences industry and is now available for free and VOD streaming across digital platforms.
This third episode, "Innovation Ecosystems," takes place during the therapeutic stage of the pandemic and explores how the colocation of academia and industry mixes with entrepreneurialism to drive the innovation flywheel in Massachusetts. This penultimate episode of “Project Frontline” features experts from across the regional ecosystem including Elizabeth Reynolds (Special Assistant to President Biden for Manufacturing and Economic Development, National Economic Council), Ben Linville-Engler (Industry and Certificate Director, MIT System Design and Management), Congressman Richie Neal, and other experts who discuss the challenges and opportunities we have to build on the example set forth in Massachusetts as a regionalized ecosystem of innovation and resiliency.
“We've uncovered two fundamental realities in Project Frontline," said the film's Producer Matthew Boyd. "The first is that innovation happens inside of a collaborative ecosystem. It doesn't come from one company or one entrepreneur; it comes from a complex ecosystem with many actors."
"The second is that these innovative ecosystems are actually resilient. They are constantly attempting to outdo the status quo and are comfortable in this proactive, agile stance. So, we have an opportunity to invest in innovation and our own resilience at the same time, and that is incredibly exciting."
“Innovation Ecosystems” provides a snapshot into the innovation and resiliency that was modeled in Massachusetts during all stages of the pandemic, as an example of how the US needs to prepare for future crises.
