Boyd Technologies Welcomes Wellington Custom Fabrics to Massachusetts

Lee, Massachusetts - Boyd Technologies, which is celebrating 30 years of advanced materials success this year, announced today its consolidation strategy which included the successful relocation of Columbus, Georgia based business Wellington Custom Fabrics™. During the second quarter, Boyd Technologies, headquartered in South Lee, MA, successfully moved Wellington and one of its key employees to South Lee and resumed operations on July 13, 2009.The move has already brought jobs back to Boyd Technologies amidst the recession.  “We had a layoff earlier this year to adjust the business to the current economic cycle” said Stephen Boyd, Boyd Technologies’ President.  “Our consolidation has permitted us to hire several employees back and reopen our second shift,” he added.  Boyd Technologies employs approximately 65 people in South Lee.

Boyd Technologies was formed as the parent company to 30 year old legacy business Boyd Converting Company in 2007, and quickly acquired Wellington Custom Fabrics in early 2008.  Both subsidiaries, Boyd Converting and Wellington Custom Fabrics, are being consolidated under the parent company name Boyd Technologies.  Wellington Custom Fabrics™ will remain intact as one of Boyd’s core brands which offers a portfolio of approximately 50 products to the apparel industry.  The Boyd Converting business will continue operations uninterrupted under the name Boyd Technologies. 

As a Boyd Technologies brand Wellington Custom Fabrics™ will operate out of a controlled manufacturing environment in South Lee, MA where the Company is ISO 9001:2008 certified, FDA, and EPA registered, and operates all of its manufacturing under cGMP Level 3 standards.  “The business will gain operational efficiencies and business synergies that will strengthen our position in the advanced materials markets.” highlighted Stephen Boyd.
